The Sunday Firsts were knocked out in the last 16 of the FA Sunday Cup, going down 2-0 against Highgate Albion at Sun Postal Sports Club, Watford, on Sunday afternoon (13th Feb).
Despite the difficult weather conditions, we started brightly and dominated possession in the opening 15 minutes, but without ever really troubling the Highgate goal.
As the half wore on the hosts began to grow into the game and started to look dangerous on the break, with their pacy forwards causing us problems and forcing Liam Royden into a couple of good saves.
Just over ten minutes into the second-half Highgate opened the scoring, catching us out from a short corner, with the resulting cross turned into the back of the net.
On the 70th minute the hosts doubled their lead, with a well struck shot from outside the box bending into the far corner giving Liam no chance in our goal.
We responded well though, and Teo Atik had the ball in the back of the Highgate net on 76 minutes after some good work down the left from Ollie Brown, but the referee ruled it out for a dubious foul on the goalkeeper in the build-up.
As the weather conditions worsened and the pitch continued to cut up - with it almost unplayable into the final stages - the game petered out and our FA Sunday Cup campaign was bought to an end.
Despite the disappointment of the defeat, the players battled to the end and we are incredibly proud of our achievement in reaching the last 16 of the country's biggest national Sunday League knockout tournament.
We would like to say a huge thank you for all of their support we have had throughout our Sunday Cup adventure, and especially to those that the made the journey for their fantastic support in Watford on Sunday.
