The Men's First Team secured a cup double this season, with victory over Finchampstead in the BTC Senior Cup Final.

The Men's First Team picked up their second piece of silverware of the season, with an excellent 2-0 victory over Finchampstead on Friday night (17 May) in the BTC Senior Cup Final at Reading FC's Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Cup victory meant that the Men's First Team complete a historic cup double for the club, following victory over Maidenhead Town in the Charles Twelftree Trophy final in March.

Our opponents started the brighter side but we grew into the game as the half progressed. Finchampstead had the opportunity to take the lead with 37 minutes played though, with Ben Lallament forced to make an excellent save from point blank range to keep the scores level.

We started to take control just before the break though, with Ollie Brown seeing his shot blocked and the Finch goalkeeper forced into action to deny a Jordan Cox free-kick.

With it looking as though the sides would go into the break all square, we broke the deadlock right on half-time, when Jordan Cox rose above the defenders to head home a James McClellan corner from the right.

We came out strongly for the second-half, playing some excellent football and looking good value for our lead. With just under 10 minutes remaining Ollie Brown doubled our lead from the penalty spot, converting after Jack Bowyer was bought down in the box.

As we approached full-time a fantastic last ditch block from substitute Chris Smalley-Ward ensured we kept our clean sheet and avoided Finchampstead setting up a nervy finale to the game.

The final whistle soon followed and captain James McClellan lifted the trophy in front of a crowd of over 700 at the SCL Stadium, as we were crowned BTC Senior Cup winners for the first time in the clubs history, leaving us to celebrate an excellent cup double this season.
